WAYNE COUNTY, Pa. —
Kids got a confidence boost at a back-to-school haircut event in Wayne County.
The Hideout Elves gave away free back-to-school haircuts to local children along Hamlin Highway in Salem Township. Their mission is to support and empower the community through donations and fundraising.
"I mean, I personally have two kids in the school districts here, and they just think it's great," said Emily Vangorden with The Hideout Elves Inc. "They say mommy's helping our friends, and that means a lot to all of us. We all have children and families, and it means a lot to help the kids out."

We are immensely grateful to Professional Baseball Pitcher
Dwight Gooden, also known as “Dr. K” and “Doc”, for joining our mission today to help our local community of seniors and children.
His endorsement is a huge honor and we are truly humbled
by his support.
We are also incredibly thankful to our attorney Matt Blit, (Mr. Met) for making this possible.
Join our Mission in making the difference
A big shout out to The Hideout elves for the game show night they put on Saturday night.
It was so much fun. Both kids and adults had a great time.
There was a mix of all different popular game shows. Such as Family feud, wheel of fortune and Jeopardy. There was a nice buffet and a cash bar.
I will say I was disappointed with the attendance. The Hideout Elves are always giving back to our community and they need us to support their fundraisers. I think it was just a busy weekend and there were conflicts in and around The Hideout.
Next year I'm looking forward to a sold out show.
l am one of the nurses at Julia Ribaudo.
The residents at Julia Ribaudo really loved their gifts.
We distributed them out evenly and accordingly today.
A few of them cried and got emotional.
Thank you for really bringing in the holiday spirit this year.
They appreciate and so do we!
Thank you Hideout elves!!
" Big shout out to the Hideout Elves just saw the story of your good work WNEP!
Keep it up!!"
"The Hideout Elves are Angels"
"Another successful year... 2020, which we all agree is the worst year in our decade....The Hideout Elves doubled the individuals we helped in 2019! With the help of all of you donors and businesses we helped 55 individuals! Which included: 11 Seniors from Julia Ribaudo extended care center, 25 students from Western Wayne and Evergreen Elementary schools, provided heat for 3 families, and gifts for 16 family members. None of this could have happened without the amazing community members we have and the businesses that support us every year! Merry Christmas everyone... remember ALL of you have made a difference..Have a safe and Happy New Year "
"This brought tears to my eyes... this community can be so amazing sometimes.."
"As some of you know, I am disabled, and have been having more and more trouble getting around recently. My husband had a shoulder replacement and rotator cuff repair in September. He has been out of work since the surgery, and it will be at least another month before he can work again, most likely longer than that. So, as you can imagine, we are cutting corners where we can. Yesterday morning, we were pleasantly surprised when the Hideout Elves showed up at our door with everything needed to make thanksgiving dinner! It was so nice of the elves to think of us, so..from the bottom of our hearts we thank the elves and all that helped out. Hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving! "
"Just got a visit from the Hideout Elves. Thank you so much for thinking of me. I was truly touched and will always appreciate this. Remember to love people not things. Enjoy the Holidays and stay safe"
"Congratulations! Glad to see this small gesture from a few years ago
continues to grow and evolve. With this formal designation, you guys can expand the circle of people in need of assistance beyond just the Hideout.
One thing that both 9/11 and COVID have shown, is that when tough times come, the generosity of people to help others becomes even more apparent. Good luck."
"Awesome job!!!!! Can't think of a better way to send off 2020!!! Can't wait for 2021"
